Dermal Fillers

Overview

Dermal fillers are non-surgical anti-ageing treatments that restore volume, enhance facial features, and reduce wrinkles, which offer the most satisfying results with respect to wrinkle correction. They are used to restore and rejuvenate facial skin without employing invasive procedures. This treatment involves injecting hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers into the skin using fine needles. Results depend on the skill of the dermatologist and the filler material used. The longevity of the fillers depends on several factors, including the area treated and material used. We only use safe FDA-approved fillers, which typically last up to a year, and follow the principle of under-correction to maintain a natural look. Temporary dermal fillers provide flexibility and adjustment over time as the facial contours changes with age.

Dermal fillers are commonly used to treat:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Loss of facial volume
  • Hollow areas under the eyes
  • Sunken cheeks or jawline contouring
  • Lip augmentation or enhancement

The dermatologist examines the patient’s face, ascertains the regions in which the filler injections should be made, and then injects hyaluronic acid fillers into the targeted areas using fine needles. This minimally invasive procedure restores skin volume and enhances facial features.

Usually, the injection of dermal fillers takes anywhere between 15 minutes to an hour.

Like all cosmetic procedures, dermal fillers have some risks. Possible side effects include:

  • Mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site
  • Temporary tenderness or discomfort
  • Rare allergic reactions or uneven results

Temporary fillers allow adjustment or trial of different products if desired results are not achieved. After dermal filler treatment, once can resume normal activities immediately; however, simple precautions help ensure safe recovery and optimal results. These include:

  • Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas for 24 hours
  • Follow up with your dermatologist for assessment and maintenance as needed
