The Department of Paediatric Renal Sciences at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital offers comprehensive care for infants, children, and adolescents with kidney and urinary tract disorders

The Tower

Our department offers the following services: 

  • Treatment for obstructive uropathy (posterior urethral valves, ureteropelvic junction obstruction): Relieving blockages in the urinary tract to preserve kidney function.
  • Management of kidney stones in children.
  • Support for bedwetting and related issues.
  • Treatment for nephrotic syndrome and glomerulonephritis: Expert care for conditions causing protein loss or inflammation in the kidneys.
  • Addressing vasculitis affecting kidneys (systemic lupus erythematosus, ANCA vasculitis, Henoch–Schonlein purpura): Managing immune system-related inflammation that affects kidney health.
  • Management of inherited or acquired conditions affecting kidney tubule function (renal tubular acidosis, Bartter syndrome).
  • Genetic testing and counselling for genetically mediated kidney diseases.
  • Ultrasound-guided kidney biopsy and comprehensive renal histopathology: Minimally invasive diagnostic procedures for accurate disease evaluation.
  • Intermittent haemodialysis, acute peritoneal dialysis, plasma exchange, and SLED/Continuous renal replacement therapy: Life-saving therapies for acute paediatric kidney failure/acute kidney injury in critically ill children.
  • Chronic peritoneal dialysis and chronic haemodialysis: Long-term dialysis solutions to support children with chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal failure.
  • Kidney transplantation for children with end-stage kidney failure.

  • Advanced urological diagnostics: Uroflowmetry and urodynamic studies to identify bladder issues and their causes.
  • Dialysis support: Comprehensive dialysis facilities tailored for paediatric patients for children with acute or chronic kidney failure.
  • Genetic testing: A dedicated clinical genetics unit which provides counselling and testing for hereditary kidney disorders.
  • Immunological testing: HLA testing to assess your child’s immunological status in preparation for renal transplant or immune-based kidney diseases.
