Dr. Chintan Desai is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Shoulder Surgery and Sports Medicine. He holds an M.S. in Orthopaedics and a Diploma in Sports Medicine from FIFA and the International Olympic Committee. Dr. Desai has completed advanced fellowship training in Shoulder Surgery and Sports Medicine in the USA, Australia, South Korea, and Portugal, gaining extensive international experience in managing complex shoulder conditions.
He was selected for the prestigious Indian American Shoulder and Elbow Society (IASES) Travelling Fellowship in the USA in 2022 and was also the only Indian doctor invited by the International Olympic Committee to the Winter Olympics 2018 in PyeongChang, South Korea.
Dr. Desai specialises in advanced shoulder procedures, including reverse shoulder replacement, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, surgery for recurrent shoulder dislocations (Bankart and Latarjet procedures), arthroscopic release for frozen shoulder, treatment of calcific tendinitis, and ultrasound-guided injections for tendon disorders. He is also recognised as the first shoulder surgeon in India to successfully perform stemless total shoulder replacement surgery.
He has received recognition at international conferences for his research on Spinoglenoid notch cysts and has published scientific work at national and international forums. Dr. Desai also mentors’ orthopaedic surgeons through specialised fellowship training in shoulder surgery.
