Dr Hitesh Sharma is currently working as a Visiting Consultant Ophthalmologist – Uvea and Intraocular Inflammation and Cataract Surgeon at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
He also serves as a Visiting Consultant Ophthalmologist at Dr Sharma’s Eye Clinic, Chembur; Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital, Wadala and Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai.
After completing his M.S. in Ophthalmology from Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (B.H.U.) Varanasi; he did his long term fellowship in Uvea and Medical Retina from Medical Research Foundation, Sankara Nethralaya in Chennai under the guidance of world renowned uveitis expert Prof. Jyotirmay Biswas.
He is Reviewer to various Journals like “Journal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection” and “Journal of Clinical Ophthalmology and Research”.
He has some good publications to his credits in various national and international journals including the most notable “Walinjkar JA, Makhija SC, Sharma HR, Morekar SR, Natarajan S. Central retinal vein occlusion with COVID-19 infection as the presumptive etiology. Indian J Ophthalmol. 2020 Nov; 68(11):2572-2574.” – which was one of the earliest publications on effects of COVID-19 on Human Retina/Eye.
He has written 10 chapters in various national and international Ophthalmology Textbooks and delivered more than 30 talks as Invited Faculty in various national and international conferences. He also has presented various papers and posters.
Surgically, he has huge experience of various cataract surgeries including Phacoemulsification, SICS, Complicated Uveitic Cataract Surgeries and has published videos in international journal/websites demonstrating complex cataract surgeries and also on retinal lasers.
