Dr Shivaprakash Krishnanaik, widely known as Dr Shiva, is the Head of Department of Paediatric Cardiac Sciences at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
After completing his MBBS, Dr Shiva earned his MS in General Surgery from Bangalore Medical College with a gold medal. He also completed MCh from the Post graduate Institute Of Medical Education And Research, Chandigarh, India in 1992. He also earned a Fellowship in Paediatric Cardiac Surgery from Royal Alexandra Hospital, Westmead, Sydney, Australia. This was followed by brief visiting fellowships at Stanford University Medical Centre, San Francisco, USA and University Hospital Coimbra, Portugal.
Prior to his association with our hospital, Dr Shiva was associated with leading hospitals like Institute of Cardio Vascular Diseases and Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center as Consultant Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon. He was also the Chief Paediatric & Congenital Heart Surgeon in Seven hills Hospital. His technical skills and areas of clinical expertise include Complex Reconstructions, Neonatal Cardiac Surgery, Cosmetic Congenital Heart Surgery, and Valve Repairs in children.
Dr Shiva is a member of Indian Association of Cardio Thoracic Surgeons and Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon’s Network. He is also a Founder Member of Paediatric Cardiac Society, India and a Visiting Professor at Tianzen University, China. His Research and Academic Interests span through the Specific Problems in Congenital Heart Disease in the Developing World, and the Development of Cost-effective Management in Paediatric Cardiac Surgeries. He also has several original articles published in various national and international journals.
