Dr. Meher Ursekar is Consultant Neuroradiologist and Division Head – Neuroradiology (CT and MRI) at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
She completed her MD in Radio-diagnosis from the University of Mumbai in 1989 with the highest honors, ranking first at the University. Her undergraduate and post graduate training was completed in Mumbai at Seth G.S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital. Thereafter, Dr. Ursekar pursued a post-doctoral fellowship in Neuroradiology at the New York University Medical Centre in 1990.
She has worked extensively in the field of Neuroradiology during her tenure as Honorary Consultant at Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences (1991-2003) and as a Consultant Neuroradiologist at SRL Diagnostics and Jankharia Imaging (2003-2014). Dr. Ursekar has received several awards and authored a number of research papers. She is on the editorial boards of several Radiology journals and has been an active member of the American Society of Neuroradiology.
She pioneered the use of Advanced Neuroimaging techniques such as functional MRI studies in the evaluation of Brain tumours and Epilepsy. Her special expertise lies with Paediatric neuroimaging.
Dr. Ursekar is also an enthusiastic teacher and has been involved in training Radiology residents registered under the DNB. Beyond her professional commitments, Dr. Ursekar is a qualified teacher in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and has been has been teaching grade 11 and 12 students the Theory of Knowledge course at a prestigious school in South Mumbai.
