Dr Nayan Sanghvi is a Consultant with the Urology department at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
After MBBS, Dr Sanghvi completed MS (Bom) followed by MNAMS (Urology). He has been in practice since more than 35 years. During the early years of practice, Dr Sanghvi has served in various capacities at the T. N. Medical College & B. Y. L. Nair Hospital – as House Surgeon and later as Registrar in the General Surgery and Paediatric Surgery department.
Currently, besides his association with our hospital, Dr Sanghvi is Honorary Consultant Urologist and Renal Transplant Surgeon at Saifee Hospital and Lilavati Hospital. He was attached to Sir H. N. Hospital & Medical Research Centre since 1982 and was Head of Department from 1996-2011.
Dr Sanghvi has performed 1000 kidney transplant operations at Sir H. N. Hospital & Medical Research Centre and 500 kidney transplant operations at Lilavati Hospital including about 40 cadaver kidney transplants.
He was trained by Dr Arthur Smith (the father of Endourology) in Endourological operations in 1988 at Long Island Jewish Medical Centre. He has attended numerous other workshops to gain further expertise in the subject.
Dr Sanghvi has trained medical students at L. T. M. G Hospital during his stint as a Tutor and later as a Lecturer there. He has also trained registrars and house surgeons registered for MCh (Urology) and D. N. B. (Urology) at B. Y. L. Nair Hospital, L. T. M. G. Hospital and Sir H. N. Hospital & Medical Research Centre. He is a teacher for DNB Urology since 2011.
He played an instrumental role in setting up the Transplant Surgery facility at Sion Hospital and the unit for Percutaneous & Endourology Surgery using C-arm at Sir H. N. Hospital & Medical Research Centre.
Dr Sanghvi has presented several research papers at conferences across the country and has received extensive training abroad. He was the President of Mumbai Urology Society in 2006-2007.
