Dr. Percy Jal Chibber is a Consultant Urologist at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
After completing MBBS and MS (General Surgery), Dr. Chibber pursued FCPS, FRCP, and MNAMS (Urology). He pursued clinical fellowship at department of Urology, Central Middlesex Hospital, University of London, UK for 6 months and at University Department of Urology and Nuffield Transplantation Surgical Unit, Western General Hospital, Edinburgh, UK for 2 years. He also underwent training in the techniques of Percutaneous Renal Surgery and Radiology at the Institute of Urology, London, UK and Long Island Jewish Hospital, New York, USA in 1983. Furthermore, he underwent Intensive Robotic Training as a console surgeon at the OLV Robotic Surgery Institute, Belgium in 2011.
Dr. Chibber has a rich experience of 39 years in the field of Urology. In addition to his association with our hospital, he is the director of Urology at Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre, Mumbai and a senior Consultant Urologist at Breach Candy Hospital & Research Centre, Mumbai. He is also an ex-visiting Honorary Consultant (Laparoscopic Urology) at Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, Mumbai. Earlier, he served as an Assistant Professor (1982-1990), Associate Professor (1990-1995), and Professor & Head (1995 to 2007) of Urology & Renal Transplantation at Grant Medical College & Sir J J Group of Hospitals, Mumbai.
Since 1983, Dr. Chibber has pioneered the development and training on the techniques of percutaneous renal surgery in India. His personal experience includes more than 2000 successfully treated cases. He was invited as a faculty member at the World Congress of Endourology held in 2004. Since 2000, he has established Laparoscopic Urological Surgery unit at the Grant Medical College. He has trained numerous residents in surgeries including Laparoscopic Donor Nephrectomy, Laparoscopic Radical Nephrectomies, and a variety of reconstructive procedures.
Dr. Chibber’s professional memberships include Urological Society of India (President, 2015), Mumbai Urological Society (President, 2003), American Urology Association, Societe Urologie Internationale, West Zone Section of the Urological Society of India (President, 2005), National Academy of Medical Sciences, and Associations of Surgeons of India.
He was appointed as an international scholar at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation for a month during May 2001. He has published many peer-reviewed articles in national and international journals and has authored chapters in books.
He is the course director for Urological Laparoscopy at the Ethicon Institute of Surgical Endoscopy (EISE), Mumbai. He has conducted courses on the techniques of percutaneous renal surgery in all over India. Additionally, he is a guest faculty at the Jamnabhai Patel Academic Center, Nadiad and at the Center of Excellence for Minimal Access Surgery Training (CEMAST), Mumbai.
