We are happy to share with you the finalized dates for the 18th annual conference of the Pediatric Cardiac Society of India (PCSI). The event would begin with a pre-conference workshop on 26th October, 2017 followed by the conference from 27th to 29th October, 2017.
Mumbai, the fast paced cosmopolitan melting pot of different Indian ethnicities is also the commercial & financial capital of India. South Mumbai or SoBo (as the locals refer to it) boasts of some of the grandest colonial era architecture such as the iconic Gateway of India, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (Victoria Terminus), the Mumbai University & Mumbai High Court buildings.
October being the perfect time to visit the city as it is right after the monsoons, when one can enjoy the cool sea breeze minus the sultry heat. A relaxing evening walk along the Marine Drive promenade, dinner at the many sea facing restaurants & shopping at the street bazaars of Colaba are a must-do for all tourists visiting SoBo. Marine Drive is also known as the Queen's Necklace because, if viewed at night from an elevated point anywhere along the drive, the street lights resemble glittering diamonds in a necklace.
Join us in this city of dreams for a hearty dose of academics. We promise to make your visit memorable.
Pediatric Cardiac Society of India (PCSI) has been one of the most vibrant & ever growing society spreading across the length & breadth of the country. What started as a small group in 1998, has grown to become the guiding force for the management of congenital heart diseases across the country. The society, has also successfully initiated & nurtured multiple training programmes to meet the increasing demand for qualified & trained paediatric cardiologists. The official journal of PCSI is one of the most respected & indexed journals in the world today (www.annalspc.com).
The 18th annual meet of the PCSI is being held in Mumbai after 7 years. Since the last event in Mumbai in 2010, the city has witnessed a booming growth in paediatric cardiac programmes. Mumbai has become a hub for CHD surgery across all of western India.
The city approximately performs 2,500 paediatric cardiac surgeries every year for the last few years, & more than 1,000 among them are infantile & neonatal heart surgeries. Paediatric cardiac interventions have been growing exponentially in the state to about 2,000 each year. Most importantly the detection rate of CHD has increased with the growing number of paediatric cardiologists.
The city also witnessed successful paediatric cardiac transplantations, Norwood surgeries, hybrid heart surgeries, complex double switch operations apart from performing complex paediatric cardiac interventions. Initiation of public health insurance programme in this state, like many other states in the country has also acted as a catalyst in delivering optimal care for a larger number of children with CHD.
At a national level, the first successful fetal cardiac intervention & unveiling of the indigenously designed multipurpose Occluder Device at Hyderabad have been the major landmarks. From that perspective we at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital proudly look forward to hosting this meet for all of you to deliberate on ways to improve patient care.
