Dr. Gustad B. Daver is the Medical Director and Head of Surgery of Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
Prior to this, he was Director Professional Services at P. D. Hinduja National Hospital & Medical Research Centre and Consultant Surgeon in General, Vascular & Thoracic Surgery for 9 years from July 2004 to June 2013.
Dr. Daver, earlier, was Dean of Grant Medical College and Sir JJ Group of Hospitals and Professor and Head of General Surgery. He worked as Professor in General Surgery from 1990 to 2004. He was Vice Dean, Post Graduate at Grant Medical College for 3 years. He was also the Joint Director Medical Education and Officer on special duty from 1995 to 1997.
He has worked as faculty in Surgery for 25 years in various Medical Colleges of Maharashtra and during this period, he has taught numerous Undergraduate and Post graduate students. He was a DNB teacher for 9 years at Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai.
Dr. Daver has done his Post-Doctoral Fellowship for 3 years at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston Texas in Cardiac & Vascular Surgery & Multi Organ Transplant Surgery under world renowned Surgeon Dr. Michael E DeBakey.
Presently, he is the President of ‘Zonal Transplant Co-ordination Cell’, Mumbai, for Organ Transplant. He has contributed to the development and organisation of Multi Organ Transplant Program in the state of Maharashtra and the city of Mumbai, since 1994 when the Human Organ Transplantation ACT was introduced in India.
Dr. Davar is the founder member of Vascular Society of India and Infective Disease Society of India, Member – Healthcare Committee (Mumbai Metropolitan Region) in ‘Bombay First’. He is also Member – Ad-hoc Board of Studies for Certificate & Fellowship Courses in Surgical Discipline by the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik.
He is the recipient of ‘Life Time Achievement’ award for meritorious service by SEWA Social & Welfare Association and has been conferred with the ‘Best Doctor Award’ by the Indian Medical Association, Mumbai.
